Peter and I have been having an interesting conversation this morning in the shop. The basic premise is “Where else could you see yourself living?”
Bozeman is a great place, and almost every day we hear from people who are visiting how much they love it here and wish they could be here. You know you are in a good place when everyone else wants to live there. We have so much water, public land, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting in the immediate area it almost boggles the mind. There is more water in an hours drive of town than you could fish in a lifetime. For anglers and outdoorsmen, it is paradise.
For me personally, I’ve moved around quite a bit growing up. Montana has always been home, and it’s where I’ve spent the majority of my life. But I’ve lived in several different states and many different cities all across the western US. I’ve experienced a lot of different places, cultures, climates and lifestyles. And after living in all these different places, I know for a fact that Montana is home.
That still begs the question, where else would you go? The world is a very big place, and lots of interesting places with lots to offer. Life is short and it’s worth the while to experience and enjoy new places. Of course being fishermen, Peter and I’s conversation revolved around fishing. Maybe it would be interesting to live on the coast somewhere, with saltwater species literally right out your backdoor. Or perhaps being within a short drive of steelhead and salmon waters would be pretty nice.
It’s an interesting question. For us here at the shop, it’s hard to beat a place like Bozeman. This is one of the trout fishing capitals of the world, and if you haven’t ever experienced it, I would highly recommend it. If you want to come visit and aren’t sure where to start, give the shop a call at 406.587.9111. We’d be happy to help you enjoy the wonderful place that is Bozeman.
