Another week, another Open Tying Night at the shop. We had another great group last night, and as always it was a lot of fun. If you are free on Monday nights from 7-9pm, come down and join us!
Tying nights are always a fun gathering, and one of my favorite things about them is just seeing what everyone is tying. We've had guys tying very detailed and intricate flies that probably belong in a display case, and we've had tiers just cranking out super basic flies to use the next day on the river. Dry flies, nymphs, streamers, the works. And everyone has something they can teach you. Even if you have been tying flies for years, you can always learn more and you never know who you might learn that from.
That's one of the things that really draws me to fly tying and fly fishing in general... You can never know it all. There is always a different way to do things that you may not have seen or tried before. If you keep an open mind you will enjoy it so much more, and become a better fisherman and fly tyer in the process.
So what are you tying these days? We would love to see your flies and how you're tying them!
