Every summer, for the past few years, my good friend Kari and I take a guided fly fishing trip down the Yellowstone River. Usually my brother, Peter King, takes us on a fish-filled adventure, but this year he is laid up with a broken back, so we braved the river with our friend, BJ Brewer. We put in at Carter's and that was the only time we saw any other fishermen, besides at our take out at Mayer's. Right away, after rigging up, Kari declared, "I'm stuck on a rock!...Or a fish!..." and BJ did his best to row upstream. Moments later it was clear that Kari had hooked a big trout and she expertly brought the big Brown toward the raft. It was the highlight of the day's fishing trip, although Kari managed to catch a bunch more fish, including a big Rainbow. I had a mishap when my phone decided to jump into my pocket and join me for an unexpected swim. We thought the photographic evidence of Kari's big Brown was lost for good, but luckily the guys at Gadget Fix were able to bring my phone back to life. Another successful fishing trip in the books, and as we were informed by some random fisherman years ago on our first guided float trip, it's always nice seeing ladies on the river.
