The Bozeman Angler crew took a field trip out to four corners this morning to check out the Simms Factory and learn about how their amazing waders are created, seam by seam. Our tour began in the repair department, where the friendly, avid fly-fishing staff, explained the process of checking your waders for pinholes by turning them inside out and spraying them with alcohol and then treating them with a thin layer of aquaseal. Simms offers a warrenty that includes free repairs on your waders for one year. After the first year, Simms will repair your waders for a small charge for the lifetime of the waders. We will happily assist you at The Bozeman Angler with your wader repair needs to save you a trip out to the factory.
We then were able to see the wader making process from the first cuts on the highest quality Goretex to adding pockets, sewing and taping seams, and attaching the stockingfoot (and now boot foots). We were amazed and impressed at the dexteriety and attention to detail of each of the skilled craftsmen and women that make your Simms waders by hand.
Simms also does in house logo designs on items such as hats and t-shirts. They even were nice enough to print up some Simms Bozeman Angler t-shirts for each of us using state of the art design machinery. We will definitely be getting some Simms Bozeman Angler logo gear in the shop for this summer.
The Bozeman Factory is also the main distribution center for North America, which allows us the ability to offer a 24-48 hour turn around to our customers for special orders and any restocking needs.
Although the Simms Factory in Bozeman, MT does not offer tours to the public, you are more than welcome to visit their facility and peak into the factory through a wall of windows in the lobby.
Thanks to all the staff at Simms, especially Robert Gibson for the very informative tour, and our amazing rep, Nick English for setting everything up, tagging along on the tour, and helping us to sell amazing products from an amazing American Made company. Cheers to Simms!
