We are thrilled to have guide, angler, and fly tyer extraordinare Andrew Grillos in the shop to teach a class on Advanced Foam Fly Tying. Andrew creates patterns that are "guide friendly", meaning they're super durable, unique, and highly effective at catching fish. The flies he will be doing for the class include some of those currently being tied for Umpqua Feather Merchants include the Fat Caddis, Hippie Stomper, El Camino, Hamburgler Beetle and more.
The class is Sunday, February 15th from 12-3pm. Participants are expected to bring their own vise and tools, but materials will be provided. You should be an intermediate tyer or better to take place. The class is $50 and we are limiting it to six students.
Not only will this class teach you some very cool patterns, but it will give you an understanding on how to better use foam to create some amazing flies. It's a great material, one whose uses are limited only to your imagination. You can sign up by stopping by or calling the shop at 406.587.9111.
