Been so fortunate to fish a bunch the last week in the warm weather and it's been a lot of fun getting out in February without freezing. If it seems strange to have such warm weather this time of year it may not be too much to worry about for now. We still have good snowpack right now and most of that is high water density snow so the short of it is as long as that stays cold and frozen in the mountains we are looking at another awesome trout fishing season.
The upper madison has been fishing very well this last week with streamers stoenflies and pink stuff. A few more midges up high in the valley and Walk wade section but mostly we been nymphing and swinging with good success.
The lower was awesome last week and dropped water temperatures in the last couple days so it's been a bit slower.
The Yellowstone has been pretty awesome with the streamer bite rocking and nypmhs a steady bet as well. The Mallard's ramp is now open if you are looking to float there i'd say it's a great idea as long as the wind isn't cranking over there. I like to use the weather underground app because it has the wind map on it which helps determine where to go sometimes. Sometimes you just have to go and trust your gut?
That's where we've been fishing I've got another guided trip tomorrow so i'll keep you posted on what we find. If you are interested in a guided trip we are on our winter rate for the rest of the month, $350 for a full day trip. Pretty sweet deal considering the fishing has been so good. Let us know if you want to book a guide for the day or two?
