Fishing Reports

Updated July 25, 2017

Runoff has subsided for the most part in South Western Montana. The fishing is great across the board. Good dry fly activity in shaded areas or early morning and late afternoon. Nymphing has been productive during the day and if you are in the mood the streamer bite has been good on the Yellowstone. It is the time of the year where keeping an eye on the previous days weather will influence where the best fishing is. If it rains in yellowstone or near big sky it is likely to see a mud plug come through the next day and slow the fishing down considerably. Have a plan B if you show up to a dirty river. With water clearing up it is time to start using usual tippet in the size 3x-5x category as the fish are seeing some summer pressure and are becoming more educated daily.
