Fly Fishing Schools
The sport of fly fishing is a very relaxing and rewarding way to become one with nature. As in all sports, there is a learning curve. Through our schools and classes at the Bozeman Angler, we can help beginners get started in a sport that will last a lifetime. We can also assist intermediate to advanced fly fishers improve and fine-tune their skills.
The head instructor for our Fly Fishing 101 classes is Brant Oswald. Brant is the former director of the Orvis West Coast Fly Fishing Schools and the Mel Krieger School of Fly Fishing, and he brings a lifetime of fishing and teaching experience to our classes. He has fished and worked in the Bozeman area for almost 20 years as a fly shop manager, licensed Montana outfitter, and teacher of fly casting, fly fishing and fly tying. He is also a part-time instructor at Montana State University. Brant's love for teaching and fly fishing is evident to every Bozeman Angler client who is introduced to the sport in our classes. Many students book a guided fly fishing trip with one of our guides soon after taking our 101 class so they can put their newly learned skills into practice on the river. Rates and Class Schedules:
Private Lessons $40/hour
One Day Fly Fishing $125/person
(Maximum of 10 per class, minimum of 4)
Class Schedule - Classes are held the second Saturday of every month from May through September. Individuals, couples, families or small group classes available by appointment all year.
Classes include A through Z instruction on fly fishing. The class covers equipment, knots, entomology, casting, and reading the water. Lunch and beverages are included.
Notice: We have been holding classes for over fourteen years and normally they fill to our maximum of 10 students. Please book as early as possible by calling 406-587-9111 or stop in the shop.

Casting Lessons for both Single-Handed and Two-Handed Spey and Switch Rods $50.00/ hour
