Went up to the Missouri with Miles Nolte the last couple of days to see what's happening on the mighty tailwater. Found lots of steady action on smaller baetis and march brown nymphs and the short leash was definately key for me to obtain success. Talking 4ft. from lead fly to indicator and being attentive and quick on the draw was also key as the takes were very subtle and quick. We fished streamers hard the first day and turned two very large brown trout early on and that was it for the interest in the big flies. The dry fly fishing was difficult to find consistent rising heads but if your patient the oppertunities are certainly there with midges and baetis. Very clear low water made for comfortable rowing and walk wading. On the way back from Craig we took the back way to Livingston to hit up the Guides bash at the Rib and Chop house. They poured out the crawfish boil and beer for this great occasion that all the familiar faces in the outfitting world get together to enjoy. Thanks so much to Ryan and the gang at the Chop House it was a blast as always!
