Sitting here in the fly shop i've been vicariously fishing through my Dad who is currently harrassing trout in the Patagonia region of Argentina. He has been sending me reports of excellent weather, fishing, and friends with some awe inspiring photos and stories. As you can see it is pretty georgous country. He sent me this story the other day and i only wish there was a photo to go along- Can not wait to show you this country, it is spectacular beyond words. Five minutes into my first day my first fish was a pig brown. I landed him after a long 5-10 minute fight on 4x. He was 25-26" and 6-7 pounds. I was trying to take a picture and stop my knees from shaking and the second time I dropped him the leader broke, so just a memory is all that remains. But it is a good memory. We have been enjoying great fishing on the Malleo Rio, Chimehuin Rio,Alumnine Rio and Collen Cura Rio. The group has not only enjoyed the wonderful fishing but also the hospitality of The Rio Dorado Lodge and the Sacconi family. Can not wait for the February group to get here. What a great way to escape winter and fish wild trout.
