Had a decent day of swinging streamers today in the wind tunnel of Bear trap canyon.  The water still has that olive color to it from the wind blowing on Ennis lake and there are tons of midge and BWOs riding the surface.  Got to try out the Hardy Marksman Drifter 11' 6wt. One of the absolute wonders of the world is the Smith River float trip and is about as finicky as rivers come.  It blows out at a moments notice and snows in july sometime.  It is by no means without merit as you float through 800ft. canyon walls of spectacular beauty and healthy browns rising to dry flies.  Usually i have tried to float it right before runoff and most of the time it's chocolate milk with maybe five fish in as many days.  Been having lot's of folks coming...

Just got back from an amazing week stalking bonefish in the Bahamas on Long Island.  The fishing was great but really the whole experience from the serenity of walking the endless expanse of the flats to the alien like ecosytem of the saltwater created a new full on addiction for me.  The challenge of detecting the whereabouts of the fish and the criminal mind that develops in stalking the flats is just as satisfying as the moment when you watch your line zip off the water and hope...

The cookie cutter spawning size trout are plentiful and ready to strap on the feed bag at the moment on the Yellowstone.  Fished for a couple hours yesterday afternoon just walking the banks and had some great healthy trout to battle.  Fished pretty much the same flies as i had the day before on the Madison but this time Rainbows mostly wanted ray charles/fire bead king prince and the browns were after the sculpins.  So few people seem to make their way over to the Stone...
