2011 Montana Fly Fishing Season

The Montana fly fishing guides at the Bozeman Angler are excited to announce that 2011 will be one of the best years for fly fishing in the Gallatin Valley in recent memory. This year’s winter was snowy and cold, which means a deep snow-pack and a high runoff that will start as soon as within the week. This will ensure excellent fly fishing on the Madison, Yellowstone, and Gallatin rivers starting as early as June and continuing late into the fall, so if even if you can't book a trip or make the time to visit Bozeman, MT before then, never fear. The fly fishing will still be phenomenal. From the PMD, Caddis, Goldenstone, Salmon Fly and Yellow Sally hatches of early summer to the terrestrial hoppers and ants of the later months, there will be plenty of great fly fishing opportunities.

Even if you aren’t a native Montana angler and thinking about making the trip to experience the best fly fishing in the lower 48 states, there are hotels and restaurants to suit every fly fisherman’s (or woman’s) budget. If you’re simply looking for a flat place to lay your head and a burger and a beer at night, you can find that, but you can also experience some of the finest lodging and cuisine in Montana if you so please.  And there are more blue-ribbon trout streams within an hour’s drive than anywhere else you’re likely to visit.

So whether you’re an experienced angler from out-of-town looking for your new favorite fishing getaway or a local learning to fly-fish for the first time, visit or call Bozeman Angler and experience some of the best guided fly fishing in the United States, here on the rivers of the Gallatin Valley!
